DU M.Sc. Physics entrance is one of the prestigious exams in the country. Every year thousands of students appear for this exam which is an entrance to the research field. I would tell you more about the admission procedure to this program in the following manner.
Candidates who have qualified B.Sc.(H) Physics from a recognized University can appear in the entrance exam if they have scored 50% in the overall aggregate.
Candidates who have qualified B.Sc. (Pass/General/Programme)/B.Sc. (H) Electronics/ B.A. Sc. (H) Instrumentation /B.A. Sc. (H) Electronics with Physics as a subject can appear in the entrance exam if they have scored 60% marks in physics as well as in overall aggregate.
Candidates who have an undergraduate degree in any branch of Science or Engineer with Physics and Mathematics as two of the subjects must have scored 60% marks in the overall aggregate.
There are 294 seats in total for M.Sc. Physics students.
Out of all 147 seats are reserved for students who have completed the undergraduate course at University of Delhi. These seats will be shared merit wise only between the students of the University of Delhi.
The remaining 147 seats are shared via an entrance exam.

First of all, look at the previous year question paper to get an idea about the exam pattern. Now, try to solve all the previous year question papers to test your knowledge. After looking at the papers you will be able to know where you stand. If your confidence is not high, please emphasize on concepts by reading important topics.
It is strongly recommended to emphasize more on the third-year subjects which include Electromagnetism, Solid State Physics, Quantum mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, Mathematical Physics.
It has been seen from earlier question papers that 50% of questions come from third-year subjects only.
Cover the entire subject by reading thoroughly. The more topics you learn better is the probability to score high.
Try to solve a number of problems given in the practice set. Solving a large number of problems helps in building your conceptual understanding in less time.
Once you had learned basic concepts try to revise and simultaneously clear your doubts.
Build your speed by solving problems within a time limit of 2 hours as you were sitting in an examination.
Build a formula sheet for every topic which helps you at the last moment. Formula sheet should include all the basic concepts, important formulas, simplified circuit diagrams, vital definitions.
You can get free material from various open sources like edx, ocw, and nptel etc.
Group study is one of the best to learn basic concepts of physics. It allows you to work cooperatively and share your knowledge. A group of students can learn more quickly when compared to one who studies individually.
This question arises to many of the students who are trying to crack M.Sc. Entrance exam.
My answer to the above question is: “It all depends upon your caliber”.
If you don’t get any answer then you may try to ask the following questions to yourself?
1. Is your Knowledge sufficient to crack the exam?
2. Do you have any fear of fighting with the rest of the candidates?
3. Are you confident of scoring good marks?
Now I think you will have the answer to whether you should Join coaching or not.
If you talk about giving any competitive exam, one of the most crucial factors is the environment in which you are going to study. A healthy study environment provides you an effective way to learn.
Regular classroom interaction will give you the opportunity to focus on the subject matter and clear any doubts regarding any doubts.
There are many students who are good in solving problems but they are not able to get a good score in competitive exam just because of not having proper guidance. So, proper mentoring and motivation one may resolve this problem.
For every unit, lecture notes will be prepared. These lecture notes are highly beneficial to cover the subject matter comprehensively.
Short tricks and tools will be taught in the classroom which can be used to solve problems quickly in the examination.
I will teach in a most effective way to make you free from rote learning or memorization of basic concepts.
Assignment problems will be given to you regularly based on what you will be taught in the classroom lecture.
Doubt sessions will be conducted in order to resolve student queries. Students can tell about their strengths and weakness in these sessions which will help me to make them better.
At the end of each unit, there will be a test to judge student performance. If the student performance is not satisfactory, then the test may be re-conducted in order to improve student performance.
